2023.3 HF4 Release Notes

Release notes for versions prior to 2023.3 are available on the Application Control Community Page.

Hotfixes are cumulative and contain any previous hotfixes for this component.

If you are installing Application Control 2023.3 for the first time, see the 2023.3 Release Notes.

Prerequisites

  • Before you begin the upgrade, ensure that you upgrade to the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages for Visual Studio with vcredist version 14.40.33810 on each system.

If you do not upgrade to vcredist version 14.40.33810, the agents will not function and stop the Windows services.

If you have updated to Management Centre 2024.3, the prerequisites will be automatically installed.

Hotfix deployment

Hotfixes are delivered as MSP files, commonly known as patch files. These files contain updates to the original application. Hotfixes can be viewed inside the Windows Control Panel.

Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Installed Updates

Hotfix Installation

Hotfixes (MSPs) can be installed or deployed using the same technology and techniques that are used to install MSIs. Both Microsoft® System Center and Management Center 10.2 or later can deploy agent MSPs. If neither of these products are available for hotfix deployment and installation, then it is also possible to install the hotfix using MSIExec.

To install the hotfix run the following command:

msiexec.exe /p serverpatchfile.msp

System Restarts

The use of MSPs reduces the need for restarts but does not completely avoid them. If a file is in use during the install, the software prompts you to restart.

Rollback Procedure

To uninstall a hotfix, use the Windows Control Panel.

Control Panel> Programs > Programs and Features > Installed Updates

Alternatively, use Management Center 10.2 or later for agent rollback.
