Web client File Director tasks

File Director has a different set of tasks depending on which platform you are using

Icons

Function Description
New Folder - Create a new folder in your File Director folder.

Click the icon to create a folder in your current location.

Web Icon Upload Upload - Add files to your File Director folder.

Click the icon and navigate to the required file. The file is uploaded to the server and is available to your other File Director devices.

You cannot upload any files greater than 2GB.

Copy - Create copies of files and folders.

Select one or more files and/or folders and click the icon. Select the destination folder and confirm.

Move - Create copies of files and folders.

Select one or more files and/or folders and click the icon. Select the destination folder and confirm.

Rename - Change the name of a file or folder.

Select a file and click the icon. Enter a new name and confirm.

Share - Share one or more files with recipients, identified by their email address.
Delete - Remove files and folders from your File Director server.

Select one or more files and/or folders and click the icon. Confirm the delete to complete the action. The selected files, folders, and their contents are removed from the server and are not available to your other File Director devices.

Share files

  1. Locate the folder which contains the files you want to share.
  2. Select the files you want to share. Multiple files can be shared but folders cannot.

    To share the contents of a folder, each file must be selected. Use the checkbox at the top of a list of files to select all files - any folders in the list must be deselected before the files can be shared.

  3. Click the share icon.
  4. In the Share Files dialog, type in the email addresses of the users you want to share
  5. the files with. Separate multiple addresses with a semicolon.
  6. Enter a name for the share.

    This is optional but it helps you and any recipients identify shares in the web console. If you do not enter a name, the share is automatically name Shared Files. This could lead to confusion with multiple shares having the same name. Share names cannot include the % character.

  7. Click Share.

The server sends an email to the specified address(es) containing a link to the current version of the file(s) at that time.
