What's New in Purchasing
In Cherwell Asset Management version 13.2, functionality was added to License Analytics to support analysis of licensing for Microsoft SQL Server. Purchasing supports that functionality with some new fields and formerly optional fields that are now required, including the following.
Status Panel
If your to-do list on the right includes a yellow Exceptions section and you use License Analytics to analyze SQL Server licensing, click this link to accomplish tasks necessary for generating meaningful data for analysis. Upgrading customers will see this section if you added purchasing data for SQL Server in earlier versions of CAM.
Assignments
- The Edit Assignments Dialog Box (for Non-computers) includes an option for marking the machine to which the SQL Server line item is assigned as a passive SQL Server.
- New Add Assignment and Add Multiple Assignments buttons let you quickly add more assignments.
Contracts
- New volume contract options let you provide details on how you manage compliance with SQL Server licensing agreements.
Line Items
- Software line items reconciled to certain SQL Server editions now show the number of licensed cores or processors next to the License Quantity field.

Using CSM Authentication
If you are enabling CSM authentication on a new Cherwell Asset Management installation (new CAM Database), you need to migrate one access profile that is bound to several built-in contracts provided within Purchasing. After you enable CSM authentication from CAM Administrator, relaunch Purchasing, log in with a CSM user that has Purchasing Administrator rights, and do the following:
- From the Status page, click the Administration tab, then click Migrate Access Profiles in the left navigation pane.
- Click the Migrate link next to Purchasing Administrator.
- Select Administrator (CSM) from the list.
- Click Migrate.
The built-in contracts are updated to use the correct CSM-based profile.
