Overwrite Existing Installations Option

This topic describes how the Overwrite existing installations (select to upgrade or reinstall out of date agents) option works. This option is available in the dialog boxes from which you launch the installation of the CAM Agent.

To use this option:

  • If you want the selected machines to run the latest version of the CAM Agent, mark the Overwrite existing installations box.

  • If you want to install to machines that do not have the CAM Agent installed on them and update connection properties on machines that do have the CAM Agent installed on them, leave this box clear.

When the Overwrite existing installations check box is selected:

  • The CAM Agent is installed on all specified machines. (In cases where the CAM Agent is already installed on a machine, the agent is first uninstalled and then reinstalled.)

  • The CAM Agent on all specified machines will report to the access point specified in the installation dialog box.

When the Overwrite existing installations check box is cleared:

  • The CAM Agent is only installed on specified machine(s) where it is not already installed.

  • The CAM Agent on specified machine(s) will report to the access point specified in the installation dialog box.

  • The access point assignments are updated.

The Overwrite existing installations check box does not determine whether proxy settings are overwritten; see Proxy Server Issues for information on when proxy settings are saved.
