How to Separate an Application from its License Unit
To monitor an application separately from the license unit in which it's contained:
- In the left pane of the License Units panel, find the license unit that contains the application. If the license unit contains more than one application, expand the license unit by selecting the plus (+) sign next to its folder.
- Click the license unit or suite.
- Right-click an application and select Convert to License Unit from the context-sensitive menu.
- In the Convert to License Unit dialog box, specify which option best
suits your needs for the selected application:
- Move the selected application(s) into a new license
unit
Example use: You have two different version numbers of an application and want to monitor them separately.
- Move the selected application(s) into an existing
license unit
Example use: You have one or more versions of an application that you want to track separately within the same license unit.
- Copy the selected Windows application(s) into a new
license unit
Example use: You want to distinguish a Windows application from other installations by putting it in its own license unit and assigning it a GUID.
- Copy the selected Windows application(s) into an
existing license unit
Example use: You want to distinguish a Windows application from other installations by putting it in an existing license unit and assigning it a GUID.
