Machine Groups
Machine groups are collections of machines that you define. When you first start using Cherwell Asset Management, only the predefined machine categories (installed, uninstalled, and so on) exist. Machine groups are also created as a result of the machine and user discovery process. Use machine groups to help organize your machines in ways that make sense for your organization, for use in reports, and to indicate contract affinity in Purchasing .
Any machine groups you create will display in their own folders in the Machines panel, and you can use machine groups to allocate concurrent licenses of an application.
The group is created as a top-level folder in the tree unless an existing machine group is selected. If a machine group is selected, the new group is created within that existing group.
