Deploying New Agents to Get License Channel

A key aspect in analyzing your Microsoft licensing position is knowing, for each installation,the channel under which each analyzed title was purchased.

The functionality to collect channel information is now part of the CAM Agent, as well as virtual environment discovery for Windows, Windows Server, and certain versions of SQL Server. You can also configure the CAM External Connector to obtain this information (except for SQL Server) from an SCCM database.

Inventory information for any License Analytics title (besides SQL Server) that does not include channel will be flagged as an exception within License Analytics unless you have set preferences in Purchasing to provide a default channel. See Creating Purchasing Contracts for more information.

Ideally you should deploy the current CAM Agent across your network and wait for all your machines to be re-inventoried before attempting a complete License Analytics analysis.
