How to Change Filters While Running Reports
You can run multiple reports using different filters, but it's best to let a report finish running before you load another filter. Changing filters while a report is being generated is not recommended, as it may produce unpredictable results.
Do
Switch filters between reports:
- Load a filter.
- Run a report from the Reports panel.
- After report finishes, close it.
- Load another filter.
- Run another report from the Reports panel.
Don't
The following examples describe how not to switch filters. Either of these procedures will yield unpredictable results; it won't be clear which filter was applied to which report.
- Load a filter.
- Run a report.
- Close the report before it finishes.
- Load another filter.
- Run a report.
Or
- Load a filter.
- Run a report.
- After the report finishes, don't close it.
- Load another filter.
- Run a report.
- Go back to the first report and select one of its links.
In the second case, the current filter is used for the report, which is not what was specified when that report was run earlier.
