Adding IP address range
Add an IP range to make sure that the target endpoints get their content from its nearest Preferred Server.
Note that all IP address ranges apply to every policy in your tenant that uses IP Ranges in Agent Settings. It is not possible to define one set of IP address ranges for one policy and a different set of ranges for another policy. This means if you have “cookie-cutter” networks (for example, more than one instance of network 192.168.4.0/22, isolated by NAT), you cannot efficiently use IP ranges to select preferred servers for endpoints on those networks. Instead, specify individual preferred servers explicitly in per-location policies.
To add an IP address
-
Navigate to Admin > Preferred Server Settings > IP addresses.
-
Click Add IP range.
The Add IP details page appears. -
Enter the name of the IP address from one of the following options:
Setting
Description
CIDR
CIDR Block Enter a valid IPv4 CIDR block.
For example: 192.168.0.0/24Range First IP Specify the range of the first IPv4 address.
For example: 192.168.0.1Last IP Specify the range of the last IPv4 address.
For example: 192.168.0.254If the endpoints have an IP address between the First IP and Last IP, then use any of the following preferred servers.
Network
Network address
Enter a valid IPv4 address.
Subnet mask
Select one of the options from the drop-down list.
-
Select one of the Preferred server names from the drop-down list.
It is possible to add multiple preferred servers to an IP range for added resiliency. This is done in order of priority, so downloads will be attempted from the top server in the list first, then subsequent servers should the prior ones fail.
-
Click Add IP range.
The new IP range will appear in the IP Address > IP list and will display the number of preferred servers assigned to it.
