Changing Settings in the INI File in GoldMine

GoldMine has the ability to change some settings in the .ini files by configuring the System Settings and <User> Options tabs. For more information, see Configuring System Settings and Managing User Options.

You can change the settings in the following table.

Setting

Configure

HTMLClosedHyperText Markup Language. The authoring language used to define the structure and layout of a Web document by using a variety of tags and attributes._CAL_NOTES

To View Notes as HTML:

1. In GoldMine, open the Tools menu and select Configure > System Settings.
2. Click the Display tab.
3. In the Notes Format area, select HTML.
4. Open any contact, click the Pending tab, and create a new Activity.
5. Add a Note in the Note area and verify that you can set the font color, type, size, and alignment.

HTML_CAL_NOTES

To View Notes as Plain Text:

1. In GoldMine, open the Tools menu and select Configure > System Settings.
2. Click the Display tab.
3. In the Notes Format area, select Plain text.
4. Open any contact, click the Pending tab, and create a new Activity.
5. Add a Note in the Note area and verify that you are not able to set the font color, type, size, and alignment.

MSSQLMaxBrowseRecs

To Configure the MSSQLMaxBrowseRecs Setting:

1. In GoldMine, open the Tools menu and select Configure > System Settings.
2. Click the Display tab.
3. Set Maximum records shown in contact search center, activity list, contact list, and contact record tabs value to any number (10 for example).
4. Test the result by:

m Running a search in the Contact Search Center

m Opening any Records Pending tab and schedule more than 10 activities (10 records display)

m Opening the Activity ListClosedA list of task or event information displayed in a set of tabs. and view Open ActivitiesClosedA time-specific or event-based action linked to Contacts; for example: calls, appointments, letters, To Do tasks, or events that are assigned to users. (10 records display)

m Opening Contact List (10 records display)

1. To restore the default value, set the Maximum records shown in contact search center, activity list, contact list, and contact record tabs value to 500.

SQLQueryLimit

To Set Maximum Number of Records Shown in SQL Query Results:

1. In GoldMine, open the Tools menu and select Configure > System Settings.
2. Click the Display tab.
3. Set Maximum number of records shown in SQL Query results value to desired number and then click OK.

AllowDupEmails

To Allow Duplicated E-mail Addresses:

1. In GoldMine, open the Tools menu and select Configure > System Settings.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Check Allow e-mail addresses to be duplicated on multiple records check box and then click OK.

OnByDefault

To Turn Calendar Alarms On by Default:

1. In GoldMine, open the Tools menu and select Options.
2. Click the Alarms tab and then click the Alarms on by Default button.
3. Check the box(es) next to the desired types of Activity for which you want to have alarms and then click OK.
4. Click OK again to close the dialog box.

FollowUp

To Set Automatic Scheduling of Follow-Up Activity when Completing an Activity:

1. In GoldMine, open the Tools menu and select Options.
2. Click the Alarms tab.
3. Check Prompt to schedule a follow-up activity when completing an activity check-box and then click OK.

When you complete a scheduled Activity, a FollowUp activity creation window appears.

ShowTipOfThe Days

To Switch On the Option of Showing Tips at Every Startup:

1. In GoldMine, open the Tools menu and select Options.
2. Click the System tab.
3. Check Show Tips at startup check-box and then click OK.

This option can be disabled on the Tip of the Day dialog box.

ROTabs

To Rename Tabs for One User:

1. In GoldMine, open any Contact RecordClosedStandard unit of information in GoldMine that incorporates information, such as: name, company, phone, and address. It serves as the basis for all scheduled work, and acts as the central link between GoldMine’s Calendar and History by maintaining all past and pending events, related to the individual contact records in the GoldMine database..
2. On the tabs row, click tab selector tab (drop-down triangle) and select Customize from the menu.
3. High-light the tab to be renamed and then click the Rename button to give the tab new name.

To Rename Tabs Globally:

To rename tabs globally, follow the procedure above, but select Customize tab labels globally.
