Setting Options for the Speller Tab

Use the Speller tab to select settings for the spell-checking options. Use spell checking in GoldMine windows offering text editing such as e-mail messages and the InfoCenterClosedA resource used to maintain and display any type of information useful to an organization or an individual. 1. Select Tools > Options. The User's Preferences dialog box appears.
2. Select Speller.
3. In the Spelling Options area, select from the following options:

Ignore capitalized words: Ignores proper names.

Ignore all-caps words: Ignores acronyms and initialisms.

Ignore words with numbers: Ignores words with numeric characters in them.

Ignore words with mixed case: Ignores specialized words such as GoldMine.

Ignore domain name: Ignores Web and Internet addresses.

Report doubled words: Notifies when the same word appears twice.

Case sensitive: Spell checker evaluates a word beginning with a capital letter as different from the same word that does not begin with a capital letter.

Phonetic suggestions: Offers phonetic suggestions that sound like the targeted word.

Typographical suggestions: Offers words with a similar letter organization to the targeted word.

Suggest split words: Suggests two words for compound words that do not appear in the dictionary.

Auto correct: When enabled, words marked with "Auto Change" actions are automatically changed to their specified replacements. When disabled, you are prompted before the words are changed.

4. In the Suggestions area, select one of the following options:

Fast but less accurate: Evaluates your unrecognized word based on your Spelling Options and quickly generates a broadly based suggestion list.

Moderately fast and accurate: Evaluates your unrecognized word based on your Spelling Options and generates a fast and accurate suggestion list.

Slow but accurate: Evaluates your unrecognized word based on your Spelling Options and generates a carefully constructed suggestion list.

5. In the Dictionaries area, select your Main Dictionary language in the drop-down list. There are 18 dictionaries to select from.
6. Click Setup Dictionaries to launch the Dictionaries dialog box where you create and customize .tlx dictionary files (see Creating Dictionaries).
7. Click OK to save the settings and close the dialog box.
