User Passwords

GoldMine users are required to have passwords to log into the product. As a part of GoldMine’s security enhancements, password complexity is in place and is enforced by default for all newly created users. All options regarding passwords are located on the Password Policy tab in the System Settings.

To Define User Passwords

1. Open the Tools menu and select Configure > System Settings.
2. Click the Password Policy tab. All defined passwords must respect the following rules:

Have a length of 8 characters, or a custom length set up by the administrator here.

Contain 1 uppercase character.

Contain 1 lowercase character.

Contain 1 digit.

Contain 1 special character, such as: !, #, @, $, %, &, /, (, ), ?, and so on.

To Enable a User Account

If a user fails to login after 3 attempts, the account becomes disabled (locked) and can only be reinstated by a user with Master rights (see To Set the User Profile). To enable a user’s account that has been locked, follow the steps below.

1. Open the Tools menu and select Users’ Settings.
2. Select the user that needs to be enabled from the list and then click the Properties button.
3. On the Profile tab, click the Unblock Account button and then click OK.

To Enable a Master User Account

If the Block the account after 3 invalid logon attempts option is checked on the Password Policy tab (see User Passwords) and a Master user fails to login after 3 attempts, any other Master user can reinstate the account (see To Enable a User Account).

However, if there are no other Master users to reinstate the account, you can follow the steps below to reinstate the account.
