Configuring GoldSync as a Service
You can access GoldSync Services configurations using either of the following methods:
■ On the GoldSync Administration Center toolbar, click the Configure GoldSync Service Runs the GoldSync application in the background without requiring a user to launch GoldMine.
button.
The GoldSync Services Settings dialog box opens.
■ Select Tools > Synchronize > Synchronization A proprietary remote synchronization process that can update one GoldMine system with new or changed information that has been entered in another GoldMine system. Settings. The Synchronization Settings dialog box opens. Click the GoldSync Services tab and Configure GoldSync Service.
The GoldSync Services Settings dialog box opens.
NOTE: After installing GoldSync as a service, but before starting the service, change the GoldSync Service logon from Local System account to This account. In the Services management window, right-click GoldSync Service and select Properties > Log On. Select This account and configure logon information using a Windows account with full access rights on the GoldSync computer and to the UNC locations where linked documents are stored.
NOTE: To use this feature on Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows 2012, you have to launch GoldMine using the Run As Administrator option.
Important Consideration
GoldSync service does not see mapped drives. For example, if GoldMine was installed into the existing database and you defined the server path as a mapped location (e.g. G:\Goldmine
), then GoldSync service is started with an error. GoldSync service will not find any linked documents or attachments written through mapped drives (e.g. G:\GoldMine\picture.jpg
). So, the files will not be synchronized with GoldSync service.
Use UNC path instead of mapped, or you can edit the gm.ini
file manually:
■ Find ‘realini=’ and ‘sysdir=’ entries:
realini=G:\GoldMine
sysdir=G:\GoldMine
■ Replace with your UNC path
realini=\\yourhost\GMPath
sysdir=\\yourhost\GMPath
