Service Manager powered by HEAT
Performing Ongoing Maintenance for the HEAT DSM Legacy Integration
After you configure the Ivanti Service Manager-HEAT DSM legacy environment, perform ongoing maintenance to address the following scenarios.
•Activating a Computer Manually
•Adding a New Software Package to HEAT DSM and Making it Installable from HEAT
•Creating a New Software Package in HEAT DSM and Making it Installable from HEAT
•Adding a New Computer to HEAT DSM
•Adding an Existing Computer to HEAT DSM
•Changing the Recurring Schedule for Software Synchronization
•Changing the Recurring Schedule for Mapping Configuration Items to Computers
Activating a New Computer
A new computer must be activated in HEAT DSM before being provisioned from Ivanti Service Manager.
Activating a Computer Manually
1.In HEAT DSM, choose the Computers & Users tab.
2.Right-click the computer and select Activate Computer.
To configure HEAT DSM so that new computers are automatically activated when added to HEAT DSM, refer to the documentation provided with HEAT DSM.
Adding a New Software Package to HEAT DSM and Making it Installable from HEAT
The HEAT DSM administrator must create the software package on the HEAT DSM system. The package must have a property of ITSM Only or DSM and ITSM in the HEAT DSM Console. See Software Properties in HEAT DSM.
Follow the procedure described in Creating a New Software Package in HEAT DSM and Making it Installable from HEAT.
Creating a New Software Package in HEAT DSM and Making it Installable from HEAT
1.Synchronize the software package. See About Synchronizing Software Packages and Sets.
2.Optional. Change package parameters. See Viewing and Editing Default Installation Parameters.
3.Specify approval requirements or availability in the Self-Service Portal, and then activate the software package. See Specifying Approval for Software Packages.
4.Optional. Add the package to a Ivanti Service Manager record so that the package is grouped together with other similar packages and displays in a filtered list when the Ivanti Service Manager record is selected. See Linking Software Packages to HEAT Software Records.
Adding a New Computer to HEAT DSM
If the new computer does not yet have a fully qualified domain name or a running HEAT DSM client agent, map a configuration item to the new computer. See Mapping Configuration Items to HEAT DSM-Managed Computers.
Adding an Existing Computer to HEAT DSM
If the existing computer has a fully qualified domain name and a running HEAT DSM client agent, and has already been linked to a user, map a configuration item to the new computer. See Mapping Configuration Items to HEAT DSM-Managed Computers.
Changing the Recurring Schedule for Software Synchronization
Software packages can be synchronized on a daily or weekly schedule. See About Scheduled Synchronization.
Changing the Recurring Schedule for Mapping Configuration Items to Computers
Configuration items can be mapped to computers by running Identify Computers on a daily or weekly basis. (We recommend that you run it daily.) See About Scheduled Synchronization.
