Release Management Roles
The following users typically work with release management:
Release Manager
Release Managers are responsible for creating, managing, and executing all aspects of a release, including preplanning, testing, documentation, training, and so on.
Change Manager
Change Managers typically create and then request a release for a change.
Other User Roles
•Problem Managers, Service Desk Analysts, and Service Desk Managers may view releases.
•Other Neurons for ITSM user roles, including (but not limited to) Problem Managers, Change Managers, Service Desk Analysts, and Service Desk Managers, can be identified as stakeholders for a specific release.
•Other Neurons for ITSM user roles, including (but not limited to) Problem Managers, Change Managers, Service Desk Analysts, and Service Desk Managers, can be set up as approvers for a specific release milestone.
Release Manager Tasks
Release Managers implement changes to ensure that they are carried out effectively and safely, and verified with minimum impact and risk to the organization.
Release Managers plan, monitor, and implement releases in coordination with Change Enablement.

• Linking configuration items and services to a release.
•Linking related releases to a release.
•Creating or linking release packages to a release.
•Linking changes to a release.
•Linking problems to a release.
•Identifying and linking stakeholders for a release.
•Adding members to the Release Review Board.
•Managing the approval process for a release.
•Managing the cost of a release.
•Viewing release reports.
