Example: Creating a Multiple Series Chart Using Multiple Business Objects

This example shows how to create an analytic metrics chart that uses multiple series and multiple business objects. This is useful to show trends.

1.Log into the Service Desk.

2.Open the Analytic Metrics workspace.

3.Click Edit Mode. The application displays the Settings menu.

4.Go to Settings > Manage Metrics. The application displays the Manage Metrics window.

5.On the General tab, enter information into the fields.

Category: Select the category from the list, or enter a new category name. For example, type Business Value Metrics.

Name: A name for the metric. For example, type Target Cost Saving.

Description.

6.On the Data Source tab, enter information into the fields.

Name: A name for the data set. This appears in the Data Source tab.

Business Object: Select the business object from the list.

Saved Search: Select the saved search from the list.

Group By: Select the type of grouping the data from the list. The application only shows the first 500 items in the pick list.

Format: Select the format of grouping such as hour, day, month, or year from the list.

2nd Level Group By: Optional. A second level to group the data that you can select from the list. The application only shows the first 500 items in the pick list.

Split in Series By: Optional. A field to split the series from the list.

Statistic Fields: The label and fields to use as statistics. Add more fields if needed.

Order by: Select the sort order from the list. Select Do not sort to reset the sort order.

Return up to: The maximum number of items to return.

Hide Null or 0 values: Hides records that do not contain data.

When you select or clear Hide Null or 0 values each time, you must ensure that correct Drill Down values are configured for the respective Data Source. See About Analytic Metrics Dashboards and Charts for more information about the Drill Down values.

7.Click Add Data Source to add a new Data Source tab.

8.Click Run to test the output.

9.Click Save to save your parameters.

10.In the Manage Metrics window, click Close.

11.From the toolbar, select Drag me to Add Chart and drop it over the dashboard. The application displays the Select Metric and Chart Type window.

12.From the left pane, select Target Cost Saving (the name of the metric that you created). From the right pane, select the column chart.

13.Click Done. See Chart Types for Advanced Configuration settings.
