Setting up Internal Email

Internal email enables you to test Neurons for ITSM email functionality without affecting external dependencies, allowing email testing at all levels and the ability to verify and test complex email monitors. In simple terms, this feature enables you to test email functionality without requiring external email provider connections.

Email is processed exactly as any other email, which enables you to verify if email is working correctly.

This feature is fully supported for testing MSGraph, Google and Exchange protocols. IMAP4 and POP3 protocols are supported, but to a lesser extent as they can not simulate the incoming server setting actions. For example, the Action To Perform On Processing Success setting option you select is not simulated by the internal mailbox feature.

Journal entry records have (internal.mailbox) suffixed in the CreatedBy field for traceability.

The Test Connection function is invalid when configuring an internal mailbox.

Enable the Internal Email Global Constant

Internal email requires the EnableInternalTestMailbox global constant to be enabled.

1.Log in to Neurons for ITSM as Administrator.

2.In the Configuration Console, open Build > Global Constants.

3.Select EnableInternalTestMailbox and set its Value to True.

4.Click Save.

Setup an Internal Email Inbox

If an existing email connection is not working properly, you can reconfigure it to an internal email inbox by changing the email address field, no other configuration changes are required. Alternatively, you can setup a new inbox to test email functionality.

To configure an existing inbox to an internal email inbox:

1.Log in to Neurons for ITSM as Administrator.

2.Open the Email Config workspace.

3.Select the inbox you want to test (change to an internal email inbox), and double-click to open the inbox configuration.

4. Enter the address (<name>@internal.mailbox) for the internal email inbox in the Address field.

The address must be in the form of "<name>@internal.mailbox", where "<name>" can be anything, but must be followed by "@internal.mailbox".

5.Click Save.
