MWI Configuration (Indication Tab)
The UM functionality includes a Microsoft Access file (mwi.mdb) for use as the New Message database, which stores a separate count of new voice mail for each UM user. The Message Waiting Indication (MWI) service checks the New Message database at an interval you specify in the DB file checking interval field (on the UM Indication tab), and sends a notification to a user extension if the user has a new voice mail. The UM functionality automatically updates the count for users when they accesses their voice mailbox.
To ensure efficient performance, you must use the system default email account for the MWI service (if the account does not receive other email).
To Configure the UM Settings on the Indication Tab:
1.In the Management Portal, click System Configuration > Users > Unified Messaging.
2.On the Indication tab:
•Enable message waiting indication - Select this option to enable the MWI service. If you do not select this option, the MWI service is not enabled, and you can disregard the parameters on the Indication tab.
•MWI mail checking interval (Required) - The interval (in seconds) at which Ivanti Voice checks the MWI email account for incoming confirmation email and updates the New Message database. The default is 300 seconds.
•DB file checking interval (Required) - The interval (in seconds) at which Ivanti Voice reads the New Message database. The default is 5 seconds.
•DB connection string (Required) - The OLEDB source string and path for the New Message database file. For example:
Provider-Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\Program Files\FrontRange Solutions\IP Communications Management\Unified Messaging\Data\mwi.mdb.
The IPCM installation automatically sets the DB Connection String field. Ivanti, Inc. Solutions recommends only changing the path to the database (C:\Program Files\FrontRange Solutions\IP Communications Management\Unified Messaging\Data\mwi.mdb) in the source string if necessary.
•SIP endpoint extension (Required) - An extension for the MWI service to use for signaling purposes only. You can enter any SIP endpoint extension in the dial plan. Ivanti, Inc. Solutions recommends using the extension number used for the voice server.
•SIP endpoint port (Required) - The TCP IP port of the SIP endpoint for outgoing SIP messages containing information about incoming voice mail. The default is 5073.
•Endpoint's synchronization interval (Required) - The interval (in seconds) at which the SIP Soft Switch synchronizes with each SIP endpoint to ensure all message waiting indicators (such as MWI lights) accurately reflect whether or not each endpoint has a new message. The default is 60 seconds.
3.Click the Update and Commit Changes buttons to enact your edits, or proceed to "MWI Service Email Configuration" below to continue configuring settings on this page.
MWI Service Email Configuration
Since users can use an email client instead of the UM functionality to directly retrieve voice mail as email attachments, configure each email client to send confirmation email messages for each new voice mail email attachment the user retrieves. The UM system checks the confirmation email messages at a regular interval and updates the New Messages database file accordingly. This ensures the MWI service continuously provides an accurate count of new messages.
To Configure the MWI Service Email Configuration Settings:
1.In the MWI Service E-mail configuration section on the Indication tab, configure the following:
•E-Mail address (Optional) - The address of the MWI service email account. Email clients send confirmation email messages to this account when users retrieve voice email.
Configure each email client to send confirmation email messages to this address.
•Incoming E-Mail server (Optional) - The host name or IP address of the server hosting the MWI service email account.
•E-Mail login - The login to access the MWI mail account.
•E-Mail password - The password to access the MWI email account. Click the Enter Password button and enter the password, then click OK.
•Incoming E-Mail server type (Optional) - The protocol of the server hosting the MWI service email account:
•POP3
•IMAP4
•IMAPSSL
If using the IMAP SSL protocol for the system outbound email server, select the IMAPSSL option for automatic decoding.
•Incoming E-Mail TCP port (Optional) - The port associated with the protocol of the MWI service email account. Ivanti Voice automatically enters the default value for the protocol you select.
2.Click the Update and Commit Changes buttons to enact your changes, then click the Test E-Mail Connection button to test the connection between Ivanti Voice and the MWI email account.
