General SIP Soft Switch Configuration
SIP Soft Switch settings are configured on two tabs: the Server tab and the CDR tab (refer to CDR and CAM Configuration).
To Make Changes to the SIP Soft Switch Server Tab Settings:
1.In the Management Portal, click System Configuration > SIP Soft Switch > Settings, then click the Server tab.
2.Change the following settings as needed:
•Address to bind to - The numeric IP address or resolvable domain name of the host computer. The default is 0.0.0.0 (all host addresses).
•Server SIP port to bind to - The TCP and UDP SIP port number for the SIP Soft Switch. The default value is 5060.
•Force mapped SIP port - In a NAT configuration, when the SIP Soft Switch is inside the NAT, this option tells the SIP Soft Switch to use a port on the public IP, specifically allocated by the network administrator, instead of a port received from the STUN. This option affects only SIP devices located outside of the NAT.
•Log File - The name of the file to which the SIP Soft Switch writes log data. The log file exists in the C:\Program Files\Ivanti\IP Communications Management\log directory.
If you enter the name of a file that does not exist, the SIP Soft Switch creates the file in this directory.
•Enable log to file - Select Enable if you want to log incoming requests. Logging consumes disk space and decreases performance under a high load, so Ivanti recommends disabling it when you are not using it for system diagnostics or deploy the SIP Soft Switch to perform high-load call switching outside of the Ivanti Voice domain. The SIP Soft Switch will always maintain the most recent 11 log files, each 4MB in size.
•Default Class of Restrictions - The COR the SIP Soft Switch assigns to each phone, gateway, or trunk in the dial plan for which you do not manually assign a COR. The default is Regular User COR.
•Security level - Configures the types of information the Ivanti Voice server requests from endpoints trying to connect:
•Trusted network - A partially secure mode in which any endpoint in the dial plan with a trusted IP address can connect to Ivanti Voice and make calls. Ivanti Voice does not prompt for usernames and passwords in this mode. Also, Ivanti Voice does not challenge registration and authentication requests when in this mode.
•Validate new calls and registration attempts - A secure mode in which Ivanti Voice prompts for usernames and passwords for each attempt to register a phone or make a call. In this mode, Ivanti Voice challenges dynamic registrations and initial requests from non-trusted endpoints.
•Validate all requests - A highly secure mode in which Ivanti Voice prompts for usernames and passwords for all requests (including placing calls on hold, disconnecting calls, etc.) to help protect against malicious attacks during a connected call.
•Keep-Alive timeout - The number of seconds the SIP Soft Switch polls an endpoint on an active call to respond to a keep-alive message. If the endpoint does not respond to the Keep-Alive timeout message, the SIP Soft Switch determines the call is no longer active and frees the resources allocated to the call. This option is useful for situations in which calls terminate abnormally (for example, if a power loss causes desktop phones to lose power during a call but a UPS keeps the SIP Soft Switch running): the Keep-Alive timeout prevents endless call detail records and unnecessary memory consumption. If you configure this option, also configure the SIP Soft Switch Session Timer (refer to VoIP Configuration). The default is 1800 seconds.
•Call attempt timeout - The maximum number of time Ivanti Voice attempts to deliver a call if the destination does not respond (a destination may not respond if it is not on or if there are network problems). The default is 4 seconds.
•Enable voice messages/prompts - Enable this option to configure Ivanti Voice to play a prompt to explain the error in the event a call cannot be connected. For example, if a user attempts to dial a number not allowed by the COR, Ivanti Voice plays a prompt stating the call is forbidden. Disable this option if you want Ivanti Voice to return the SIP error code without playing the explanatory prompt. Ivanti Voice stores error message prompts in the C:\Program Files\Ivanti\IP Communications Management\Bin\Audio directory.
•Enable music on hold - Enable this option if you want Ivanti Voice to play music for callers on hold. Ivanti Voice stores hold music as a music.wav file in the C:\Program Files\Ivanti\IP Communications Management\Bin\Audio directory. The default music is Ludwig van Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.
Some music copyright holders consider playing hold music the equivalent of broadcasting, and require you to pay royalties to obtain copyright permissions. The default hold music is royalty-free. If you change the default hold music, either use royalty-free music or obtain distribution rights from the music copyright holders.
•Codecs for music on hold and announcements - The codecs Ivanti Voice uses for hold music and announcements. The valid codecs are PCMA(G.711 a-law), PCMU (G.711 m-law), GSM (GSM 6.10), and G729 (G.729). The codec names are the same as those in SDP packets in SIP signaling, as defined in RFC 1890 http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1890.txt. Use commas to separate each codec you list, and only use the syntax shown in bold text above.
Ivanti Voice ships only with the G.711 m-law version of the announcements and hold music. If you want a-law or G.729 encoded versions, transcode the G.711 m-law audio files.
•Allow anonymous caller id - The default, selected, accepts calls from the PSTN with a blocked caller ID. Deselect to block such calls.
•Anonymous caller id - If the caller ID is blocked, the system will use this value as the ANI (Automatic Number Identification). The default value is anonymous.
