Group (Phantom) Mailbox Configuration
A phantom mailbox is a mailbox utilized by a group of users to send and receive email as a unit, providing a single address at which callers can message the group, such as [email protected].
There are two ways to configure phantom mailboxes:
•If the users in the group only need to receive and not send messages from the phantom mailbox, use the forwarding feature of the email client program (such as the Microsoft Outlook Broadcast feature) to forward a copy of each message the phantom mailbox receives to every member in the group. In this configuration, all users in the group receive the group messages in their personal mailboxes, and do not need to directly access the phantom mailbox to retrieve such messages. In this situation, only the mailbox administrator needs to know the access credentials for the phantom mailbox.
The MWI does not track messages the phantom mailbox forwards because such messages are sent by the mail client and not Ivanti Voice.
•If the users in the group need to both receive and send messages from the phantom mailbox, each user must directly access the phantom mailbox. In this situation, all users in the group need to know the access credentials for the phantom mailbox.
The mailbox displays a message as new only to the first user that access the mailbox following the arrival of the message.
The UM functionality has one extension for each voice mailbox, so assign an extension to the phantom mailbox as well.
