Utilizing Preferred Servers in App Distribution

You can now host Ivanti Neurons App Distribution content.

  1. Navigate to App Distribution > App Catalog > + Add application > select one of the options from the drop-down list.

  2. (Optional) Select an existing app to modify the details.

  3. Navigate to the Package tab.
The Pre-deployment actions and Package Actions pane appears.
For more information on package actions, see App Distribution Package Actions and Detection Rules.

  4. (Optional) Select the Edit version for an existing app.

  5. Select the Download file package action.
    The Download file panel appears.

  6. Enter the URL.
Alternatively, click Choose file option to select a file from the Cloud file explorer page.

It is recommended to stage apps on Preferred Servers that are not pre-configured Ivanti Security Controls distribution servers. Security Controls uses a flat directory for staging patches, while App Distribution is designed for a directory structure where files are staged in directory structures that mirror their original URL or UNC path.

    1. Select an existing storage Account from the drop-down list.

    2. (optional) Select an existing Container from the drop-down list.

    3. Select the files from the list.

    4. Click +Add.
The URL of the selected file appears in the From URL field.

  7. Enter the SHA256 hash value to download the content from the preferred server.

Make sure to start the value with #. If you don’t provide a hash, then Ivanti Neurons will always download from the source and not from the peers or preferred servers.

  8. (Optional) In the Download file pane, you can add, modify, or delete files to download to the endpoint device.

  9. Click Save.
    The Save panel appears.

  10. Enter the Comments.

  11. Click Save.
