Activating and Deactivating Computers

The procedure for activating a computer is as follows:

1. Select one or more computers in the Object window.
2. Choose the Activate Computer task and then follow the wizard.

Activation of a computer will have the effect of including the computer in the software lifecycle management.
Result: assigned packages can be installed.

The procedure for deactivating a computer is as follows:

1. Select one or more computers in the Object window.
2. Choose the Deactivate Computer task and then follow the wizard.
   For certain changes a computer has to be deactivated, e.g.
   • Moving a computer
   • Renaming a computer
   • Changing the initial MAC address
   • Deleting a computer

Deactivation will have the effect of excluding the computer from the software lifecycle management.
Result: assigned packages can no longer be installed.
