Entering Changed Hardware in the DSMC

Ivanti DSM uses the initial MAC address and the SMBIOS GUID to identify computers. If you changed the hardware of a computer, for example the motherboard or the network card, you can enter and store the changed information manually in the database with the Hardware Change Wizard.

If you are using computers with Linux or MAC operating system, please enter the changes manually with the Hardware Change Wizard.

How to change the entries:

1. Select a computer in the Object window and choose the Hardware Change task.

   The Hardware Change Wizard starts.

2. Enter the initial MAC address or/and the SMBIOS GUID.
3. Close the wizard.
4. Restart the computer with the hardware changes.

You can delete the properties Initial MAC address and/or SMBIOS GUID in the DSMC on the respective computer object if you want to change the hardware on that computer and are planning to send the data automatically to the server during the client synchronization.
