Specifying Installation Targets According to Inventory Data

How to use installation targets to assign packages:

• Save a search request based on the inventory data in HEAT Discovery. Please refer to the HEAT Discovery documentation for further details on the functionality.
• Open the domain or the OU in the organization tree of the DSMC where you want to save the new static group containing the Discovery installation targets.
• Select the task Manage Structure Objects > Import Discovery Installation targets and follow the directions in the wizard dialog.

  The system creates an individual static group for every Discovery installation target you select.

  You can only import computer objects to the organization tree of the DSMC.
  The system identifies the computers by their name when the stored search requests are imported to the database and adds them to the static group later. Make sure that the computer names are unique across the company.
  The system will not add any computers from the search request to the static group if it cannot identify them in the DSM database.

• Assign one package (or more) from the Software Library to the new static group.
• If necessary, update the static group by selecting the task Manage Structure Objects > Synchronize group with Discovery.

  Note that the imported static groups are not automatically synchronized!
