Adding a Group

The procedure for adding a group is as follows:

  1. Select an existing container in the Organization Tree.

      You cannot add a group in the root of the organization tree or in the New Users & Computers container.

  2. Choose the Add Group task and then follow the wizard.
  3. In the Wizard you have two basic selection options:

    1. User group OR computer group
    2. Static Group with permanently assigned members OR dynamic group, whose members are dynamically updated on the basis of an LDAP filter which can be interactively created.

    Note that members of groups have to be in the same context (or subordinate to it) as the group itself.
    Moreover, the role-based permissions which you possess in your OU also apply to the group members.
