Importing Organization Directory

The procedure for importing users or computers into the organization tree is as follows:

1. Create a new domain or an OU if you want to import users or computers into it.

   You cannot import users or computers in the root of the organization tree and in the New Users & Computers container.
   You need to be Supervisor to be allowed to import users or computers.
   Make sure that you have access to the desired data source.

2. In the Tasks window, choose Import Organization Directory.

   The Import Wizard is opened.

3. Select the requested data source for the import.

   Depending on the data source, different wizard pages will be displayed. Depending on the selected data source, follow the Wizard, as described below:

   • Import: XML File
   • Import: AD
   • Import: CSV File

   An existing computer or user (e.g. imported via AutoInsert) will be moved to the defined directory during the import.
   An object which was created with the aid of an import will not be deleted if this object no longer exists at the time of a new import.

   Objects that cannot be installed for any reason are skipped. After the import, a respective message pops up. Objects that are not imported are entered in the DSMC_<user>_<nr>.log log file.
