Adding Authorized User

To add an authorized user, proceed as follows:

  1. If you have already defined authorized users, make sure that you are logged in to the DSMC with an account that has sufficient permissions to create authorized users.
  2. Select the desired context of the site structure in which you wish to set administration permissions for the new user. Open the ICDB .
  3. Select Add User/Group from the context menu in the Administration Permissions section.

The Add Authorized User wizard is opened.

If you do not see the section Administration permissions or the command Add authorized user is not available, you do not have the permission to create authorized users in this context.

  4. Select a type of user account.

If you create a Proprietary NetInstall Account, you must enter the user name and the password (you can change the password later).

To use a user account from an NT domain, specify the user name in the form <domain>\<user name>.
To use a user account from Active Directory, specify the user name in the form <name>.<container>. ... . <DNS domain>

When you create the first authorized user, ensure that this user has adequate access permissions; give him all administration permissions within the site structure by placing him on the ORG level, assigning him full control, and choosing To all objects in the inheritance dialog.
Use the Proprietary NetInstall Account type for the first user account you create. You can then always use this account to gain full access to the DSMC irrespective of your current NT or AD login.

  5. Choose whether you wish to define the access permissions for the new user or whether you wish to create further authorized users.

If you selected Explicitly set permissions for this user/group, the Administration Permissions dialog is displayed. Select the desired administration permissions.

  6. If you are working in the context of the ORG, a region or a site, the Pass on value dialog is displayed. Pass on the administration permissions to child objects as desired.

The inheritance dialog only shows the child objects in which you are allowed to change the administration permissions.

  7. Close the ICDB and save the changes.

An authorized user is always created for the entire site structure, regardless of the context in which the user was inserted. However, administration permissions for a user are only set within the context where the user was created (exception: Read access to the site structure). You can give the user different administration permissions for different objects in the site structure, such as sites, by changing the administration permissions for the object in question.
