Importing the XML File

Recommendation: Create a backup copy of the ICDB prior to import (NICFGSRV.NCP, NICFGLCL.NCP).
Import can only be performed if the ICDB is not locked.

Importing via Command Line (command line mode)

Execute the command below. The UNC path to the DSM Share on the central depot must be <Depot_Path>:

\\<Depot_Path>\NcpImport /file:<ImportFileName.xml>

Make sure there is no blank space between the file name and the colon.

To import the XML file you must log on during import in the same way as you log on to the DSMC:

  • If there is an administrator account which logs you on automatically (i.e. an administrator account that is defined by means of an NT or AD user or user group), you do not need to do anything further.
  • Otherwise you must enter a DSM-specific administrator account and the appropriate password in the command line.
    Syntax: /user:<User name> /pwd:<Password>

Importing via Dialog

  1. Launch the program NcpImport from the NetInstall directory on the central depot.
  2. When requested, log on with a DSM-specific administrator account.
  3. Specify the name of the required XML file in the XML Import dialog.
  4. The data is instantly written into the ICDB. The configuration is automatically saved.

Troubleshooting

If the import does not result in the required changes, check the import log file (NCPImport.LOG).
