Inserting a Repository

The DSMC makes it possible to work with several repositories.

Additional repositories make sense if you want to "package decentralized" or if you have different requirements for the package contents (e.g. languages) in the different locations/sites. In this case we recommend that you add one repository per location.

You can add a repository within the ORG, a region or a site. The location of the repository in the site structure determines...

  • the administration context (administrative permission for the infrastructure).
  • the depot on which the editable copy of the repository is stored (the master repository); this is always the master depot of the corresponding ORG, region or site.
  • the sites in which this repository is available.

To add a repository, start the Wizard from the site structure object's context menu:

  1. Enter the name of the new repository. The name must be unique within the entire site structure.
  1. If you wish, you can activate the option Keep only one copy of the package directory. This option saves some drive space, however, it has the disadvantage that the editable copy of the package files on the repository master is located in the installation directory. This configuration can therefore lead to conflicting accesses between editing packages and installations on the managed computers.
