Deleting a Log File

Log files are deleted in two cases:

  • The maximum storage size for a specific type of log files has been reached
  • The maximum number of log files of an instance has been reached

If an DSM instance creates a new log file and the maximum storage size or the maximum number of log files has been reached, Ivanti DSM deletes the log files that have the lowest significance.

Entries within a log file are deleted automatically if:

  • a log file exceeds the maximum storage size while being written. The log file is automatically truncated after Byte 8096 and marked with the entry --- truncated ---. New actions are continued below this entry.
