Updating a Policy  Instance

The system only updates the associated policy instances automatically after updating a policy if you run a critical update. In all other cases you must update the policy instance separately to apply the changes.
If you change the installation parameters of the assigned instance configuration, this is the same procedure: To apply the changes, the instance must also be updated afterwards.

How to update existing policy instances:

  1. Open the package or the computer in the Object window.

All of the policies and/or policy instances are displayed in the Software Policies tab in the Detail window.

  2. Select a policy instance in the Detail window and then select Update policy instance in the Task window.

The system updates the policy instance. With this step, the assigned configuration becomes the desired configuration of the policy instance. Then, the Installer installs the desired configuration.

To update several instances at once, you can select one of the following tasks (depending on the context):

    • In the context of a policy:
      Update all policy instances
Update all policy instances (only active policy instances)
Update all policy instances (only inactive policy instances)
    • In the policy instance group context (e.g. compliant):
Update all policy instances (only compliance status '<name>')
