Changing Dependent Software

Software which is technically dependent on other software can be inserted into a Software Set in the form of a component. This ensures that the packages are assigned and installed together.
Moreover, it is possible to specify whether the component is optional and (in the case of several components) in which order the installation should take place.

Adding a component

The procedure for adding a package to a Software Set as a component is as follows:

  1. Choose Components in the Packaging Workbench of the main package which has been opened.
  2. Drag one package from the software library (on the left-hand side) into the component list on the right-hand side.
The package will be inserted as a component. If the selected platforms of the component do not agree with the main package, the component will automatically be inserted as optional. In this way it is possible for components to be ignored during installation if they are not allowed to be installed on the platform in question.
  3. If necessary, drag additional packages into the list as components.

Editing a component

The procedure for changing the component settings is as follows:

  1. Pick the desired components in the component list.

The properties of the component are shown in the detail window of the Packaging Workbench.

  2. Specify whether the component should be an optional component:
    Optional
means that the installation of the main package and its components can also be carried out without this component.
    Not optional
means that if for some reason this component cannot be installed, the Software Set/main package and its other components will not be installed either.
  3. Determine the installation order:
To change the installation order, change the value of it.

All the components of a package will be installed in accordance with the installation order (beginning with 0).
