Driver Installation Method 2: Using an installation data medium (CD-ROM, diskette, directory)

To create a Driver Package by using an installation medium, proceed as follows:

  1. Select the desired software folder in the Software Library.
  2. Choose the task Automate > Driver Installation.
  3. Choose the option Multiple Driver Packages from file/folder or Multiple Driver Packages from current computer.
  4. Follow the wizard in order to select the desired Plug & Play devices.

The DSMC checks whether packages already exist for installing one of the permitted devices. If one does, a hint appears for each device concerned.

In the wizard you can enter a path or the name of an INF file directly (an INF file contains information on device installation).

  5. If wished, change the device selection (back to previous step).

The DSMC creates the package and copies the files required for installation into the package directory. Depending on the method selected drivers are stored in one or more packages.
As the package name, the DSMC uses the first name in alphabetical order from the list of selected devices.
If files are missing from the path you selected initially, you will be informed accordingly. If you have the missing files, you can add them to the package.

Very often, the reason for missing files is the fact that although a manufacturer may support device drivers in different languages, the installation data medium only contains some of these.
