Driver Installation Method 3: Recording the installation

To create a Driver Package by recording the installation, proceed as follows:

  1. Log onto your computer with an account that has local administrator rights.
  2. Analyze the current status of your computer via the task Record Installation (see: Step 1: Analyze the Initial Status (Spy) ).
  3. Connect the Plug & Play device(s) whose installation you wish to analyze to your computer.

Execute the installation of the Plug & Play device. Pay attention to the manufacturer’s instructions. Check that the device is working properly.
If you are prompted to restart your computer after installation, do so.

  4. Now analyze the changes via the task Record Installation (see: Step 3: Analyze changes (Spy) ). On the first page of the Wizard, enable the option: Analyze the installation of Plug & Play devices.

The DSMC checks whether package already exists for installing one of the detected devices. If this is the case, a dialog which indicates the possible conflict appears.

The Plug & Play devices found are automatically permitted by default.
