Automating the Installation of a Driver

The procedure for automating the installation of a driver is as follows:

  1. Select the desired software folder in the Software Library.
  2. Choose the task Automate > Driver  Installation.

The Driver Installation Wizard starts. In the wizard dialog, you can chose from the different methods for installing drivers and then install the selected drivers.

  3. Select which packaging task you want to perform.
    The following tasks are available:
    • Driver package (from file/folder or from current computer)
If you select several drivers, they will be stored in the same package.
    • Multiple driver packages (from file/folder or from current computer)
If you select several drivers, the system stores a separate package for each driver.
    • Mass storage driver package for Windows XP or 2003
Used mainly in the context of operating system installations.

With the help of the wizard, a driver installation can be automated by either of two methods:
Method 1: Selecting installed Plug & Play devices
Method 2: Using an installation data medium (CD-ROM, diskette, directory)

There is one further way of automating the installation of a driver:
Method 3: Recording the installation with NetInstall Spy
