Export/Import Packages
Ivanti DSM allows you to export packages from the software library and to import them into the software library of another DSM environment.
Applications:
- A service provider is commissioned by a customer to create “finished” packages. Using Export he dispatches the packages to the customer and integrates them back into the software library using Import
- A customer sends a package to the Support for checking.
- Packages can be exchanged between several DSM environments.
To export packages, proceed as follows:
- Select the required package or the required software folder.
- Select Export Packages in the tasks window.
- If you selected a folder in step 1: By default all packages contained in the selection are selected for export. Change the selection as you wish.
- Select the target directory for export.
- The export cannot be executed as long as another user edits the package.
- The export always includes all revisions of a package.
- When exporting software sets, component packages must be exported separately. They are not exported automatically!
To import packages, proceed as follows:
- Select the required package or the required software folder.
- Select Import Packages in the tasks window.
Please note:
- The import always includes all revisions of a package.
- When importing software sets, component packages must be imported separately. They are not imported automatically!
- If you cancel the import, none of the selected packages will be imported.
Scope of Export/Import
The following parts or properties of a package can be transferred:
- Package script
- Originals of package files
- Path (repository\folder\(...)\package name)
- Project GUID
The following can therefore not be transferred:
- Release status
- Distribution (job definition)
- Compressed package files for distribution (_NI5.ZIP files)
Form of Transfer
When exporting packages, the associated package files are copied into a directory of your choice (target directory). It is possible to export several packages at the same time.
The files in the export directory can be copied or moved into any other directory of your choice. Import is then made from this directory (source directory).
The source directory can be selected freely when importing. Exception: The Projects directory of a repository cannot be used as the source directory (in other words, a package must always be exported before importing).
Import is to a software library; the target can be chosen at will within the software library (any folder in the software library).
