Creating a Software Category

The procedure for adding a software category is as follows:

1. Select the root of the Software Library or a software folder.
2. Choose the task Add Objects > Software Category and then enter the name of the category.

In the wizard you have the option of creating a static software category with permanently assigned packages OR a dynamic software category whose assigned packages are dynamically updated on the basis of an LDAP filter which can be interactively created.
Note that members of software categories have to be in the same context (or subordinate to it) as the category itself.
Moreover, for the members of the category the role-based permissions that you possess in the software folder to which they have been assigned apply.

In the Software Shop, the available packages are displayed in a tree view.
The folders (containers) represent the static software categories.
