INI-Mapping

INI files originate from Windows 3.1; most applications still use INI files. By default, INI files reside in the Windows directory on a workstation's local drive (as Windows is installed locally) and are therefore computer-related.

For Traveling User Support (TUS) this means that INI files do not "travel" with a user's roaming (i.e. server-based) profile and the user cannot use the INI files on other workstations on the network. To make INI files available for TUS, they are mapped to the registry.
