MSI-based Software

An MSI-based software contains the complete information and data the Windows Installer needs to install the included application:

• The MSI database:
  Physically, the database is stored in an .MSI file.
• The application files:
  The files can be stored externally or also in the .MSI file; this is specified by the respective software producer.

When installing the MSI-based software, the MSI database is stored locally (cached). The local MSI database guarantees for easy uninstallation and repair of the MSI-based software (Auto Repair feature)
