Allow download of package files via the connection to this site/OU

Section:

Staging

Description:

Specifies whether the download of installation data (staging) to computers at this site/region is to take place even when the repository can only be reached via the connection to the superordinate object of the site structure.

The opposite also applies:
The setting specifies whether the download of installation data (staging) from a repository at this site/region to computers at another site is to take place even when these computers can only be reached via the connection to the superordinate object of the site structure.

>> Example for this setting in a site structure

Possible values:

YES, NO

Default:

NO

Set during/as:

Installation

Set on level:

ORG

Passed on to:

Region, site

Change (via):

ORG, region, site

Reference (via):

StagingSettings.AllowProjectDownload

Reasons for change:

For example, if download beyond the boundaries of the site is to be allowed or a weak connection is to be avoided (e.g. to a remote site).

Notes/Warnings:

This setting must be set to YES for all connections between a site and the repository from which a download of package files is to be continued.

Background:
A download can only begin when the repository is visible in the site structure and has been correspondingly distributed on the local site server.
Therefore, the Allow download of package files via the connection to this site/region setting only becomes effective when the managed computer is assigned to another site in which the corresponding repository is not "visible":
In such cases, the DSM Client can continue the download if the connections in the site structure between the repository and the current site are released!
