Local Path for Log Files

Section:

Log Files

Description:

Use this setting to specify the directory where the DSM log files of managed computers are written to. The DSM Client automatically creates the appropriate directory.

The directory is created as DSMLogs$ share for the Administrator group with full access. You can extend this default setting by specifying an additional Group with full access to log files on clients
. By default, the directory's NTFS permission is set to Read and Write access for all users. Use the setting Only Write access to client log files to customize this setting.

Possible values:

Valid local path on all managed computers.

Default value:

%CommonProgramFilesDir%\enteo\NiLogs

Set during/as:

Installation

Set on level:

ORG

Passed on to:

Region, site

Change (via):

ORG, region, site

Reference (via):

LogFileSettings.LogFilePath

Reasons for change:

The preferred path is changed globally or in parts of the DSM infrastructure.

Notes/Warnings:

If you change the local path, the associated share is changed automatically. As soon as the client loads the changed ICDB, this change is applied; the DSM Client does not have to be restarted.

DSM only changes the access permissions you defined with the respective settings. DSM does not change any access permissions to the log file directory that have been specified manually.
