Depot access

Section:

Staging via Neighborcast (P2P)

Description:

With this setting you can specify in which cases the depot is also used for staging.

Generally, the depot is always used as long as the respective package has not yet been downloaded from a client in the subnet or if there is no client available currently from where a package can be downloaded.

When staging via neighborcast is active, however, the depot should not be used for download any longer. There are a few cases where using the depot actually makes sense. For example, when all clients are busy.

The two options that are available for this setting have the following consequences:

  • Minimize (default)
The depot must not be used as soon as a client provides the required package to another client for download. This also applies if the respective client is busy with downloading a package himself or if the package has not been downloaded completely yet. In theses cases, the download process must wait.
  • Also allow during peak loads
If all clients that provide packages for download are busy downloading the packages themselves (a maximum number of clients are waiting), the depot can be used for downloading packages.
