Delete packages based on the Job Definition

Section:

Distribution

Description:

Determines whether the distribution service, when checking a depot, automatically deletes packages which are not allowed according to the Job Definition File (JDF).

The so called distribution job defines which distribution target a package is to be distributed to. The job is stored in the Job Definition File (JDF).

By default, this setting is disabled, the package files are not automatically deleted. The setting should only be enabled if it is sure, that no "contradictory" JDF files exist.

Example for "contradictory" JDF files:
The same depot is used in two different OUs. If for a package there is a JDF file which contains only one of the OUs as distribution target, the automatic deletion of package files would lead to a malfunction. Based on the information in the JDF file, the package would be deleted by the distribution service for the first OU and re-created by the distribution service for the second OU. Of course, the prerequisite is that a distribution service is activated for each one of the OUs.
