Allow software installations on server systems

Section:

To enable Windows Servers to perform a client synchronization and install software packages, the value for Allow software installations on server systems must be set to Yes.

Changing this setting affects the Service Installer and the AutoInstaller.

Reasons for change:

Certain scripts result in modifications that also need to be implemented on a server.

Notes/Warnings:

  • There are two reasons why you may encounter difficulties when installing on servers:
      • The workstation may be automatically shut down when the data that is to be modified is in use.
      • The polling of the DSM Agent may lead to an unexpected high network load.
  • If you select the option YES, please make sure to exclude automatic installation on servers (for example, by assigning appropriate package permissions).
