Bandwidth control for Read (Pull) and Write (Push) processes

Section:

Distribution

Description:

Use this setting to determine the required action when unpacking packages during a distribution process with bandwidth control. A package that is being uncompressed is read from the Work directory first and then written to the Install directory (uncompressed).
There are two values for specifying the bandwidth control, one when reading from the Work directory (Pull) (default setting) and one when writing to the Install directory (Push).

Use the bandwidth control setting to prevent an overload when connecting to poorly connected depots. This setting is only needed if the distribution runs between two different depots from Work to Install. Usually, these two directories reside on the same depot and the Distribution Service is set up with a powerful connection.

We recommend activating bandwidth control for the connection between the Management Point where the associated Distribution Service is running and the poorly connected depot.

Possible values:

Read direction (Pull)

Write direction (Push)

Notes/Warnings:

You do not need bandwidth control if the Work and the Install directories reside on the same depot. You can disable bandwidth control with the Distribution Timeframe setting in this case.
