Configuring the OSD Proxy

This topic provides information on how to set defaults for the OSD Proxy on the Management Point.

Disk Image: Network Share

A disk image, which is to be used as a computer backup, is created by the assignment of the Pre OS Action Package DriveSnapshot Capture and DriveSnapshot Restore on this computer. Since the disk image has to be stored on a network share, you have to define a share for this purpose.

Enter one or more network shares.

Make sure to set the configuration settings Account for network share and Password for network share as well!

Disk Image: Account for Network Share

The OSD Proxy requires Read/Write access to the network share where the OSD Proxy can store the disk images. You can change the account and the password later, if necessary.

Make sure to specify the configuration setting Password for network share as well!

Disk Image: Password for Network Share

The OSD Proxy requires Read/Write access to the network share where the OSD Proxy can store the disk images. You can change the account later, if necessary.

Make sure that you are using the correct password for the specified Account for network share!

Disk Image: Number of Computers Needed for a Multicast Session

DSM OS Deployment installs disk images by a multicast session on one or more computers. Multicast has the advantage that one disk image can be transferred to several participating computers at the same time without risking that the bandwidth is multiplied on the sender with the number of recipients.

The setting Number of Computers Needed for a Multicast Session (Imaging) defines the number of computers required for a multicast session to start.

If the number of participating computers has been reached, the system waits an additional amount of time (see respective ICDB setting) to accept any latecomers to the session.

Disk Image: Timeout after reaching the Number of Computers Needed for a Multicast Session

This value specifies the time the OSD Proxy waits before executing a Multicast installation. The imaging process starts after the interval is finished at the latest even if the minimum number of computers per Multicast session has not been reached.

Disk Image: Timeout before the imaging starts no matter if the computer count has been reached

This value specifies the time the OSD Proxy waits before executing a Multicast installation. The imaging process starts after the interval is finished at the latest even if the minimum number of computers per Multicast session has not been reached.
