Tips on Administration Rights

Protect the DSMC against Unauthorized Access

Create at least one administrative user – even when there is only oneDSM administrator in your company. This protects the DSMC against unauthorized access.

Create the first Administrative User as a Proprietary DSM Account

Special instructions for the first administrative account:

  • Create the first administrative user as a proprietary DSM account. Advantage: you can always open the DSMC with this account - independent of your current OS authorization.
  • Provide this user full access to all objects of the site structure: Create the user on the ORG level and select "All Other Objects" in the inheritance dialog.
  • Do not use this user for your daily work but rather only to create or change administrative users.

Use NT or AD accounts for Daily Work

  • Use user accounts for daily work that are defined as NT or AD accounts. Advantage: You are automatically logged in to the DSMC.
  • Limit the permissions to this account as much as possible.
