Depot - Overview

Ivanti DSM requires a shared directory on a file server to which the normal user has read access and the administrator has read and write access.
In this depot, the resource files, the Infrastructure Configuration Database (ICDB) and the installation data of the packages are placed.

In large and distributed environments any number of depots can be used. DSM automatically synchronizes the depots with the central depot via the Distribution Service.

The depot contains the following resources:

• DSM program files
• the repositories containing the installation data of the packages
• the Infrastructure Configuration Database (ICDB)

Moreover, distributed depots offer the following advantages:

• Load balancing
• Fail-safe Operation
• Reduced network load at logon
