Management Point - General

A Management Point (MP) is a computer that provides the services of different management applications such as Business Logic Server or Relay Proxy. Every MP provides an infrastructure based on the DSM Management Services allowing, in principle, a remote installation and configuration of management applications.

The Business Logic Server is a management application which is located on the Central Management Point (on ORG level); it has a SOAP interface and a lose link to different management applications. The Business Logic Server is the core of the service-oriented architecture (SOA) of the DSM modules.
The Business Logic Server encapsulates the central information memory of the DSM modules and makes them easily accessible via a standard and open interface.
By employing the DSM modules, companies are far more flexible when integrating their own heterogeneous IT structure.
For this purpose, the Management Point offers Web Services which use the platform-independent communication protocol SOAP; this allows experienced application developers to easily program access to the DSM data.

The Management Point appears as a separate object in the site structure and is administered there and in the related configuration table. Multiple Management Points are supported; basically the Central Management Point on the ORG level of the site structure always exists.

When installing a management application you can use an existing Management Point or create a new one.
