Relay Proxy

The Relay Proxy can be employed as an alternative to a Business Logic Server (BLS). In contrast to a BLS, a Relay Proxy does not require a database. Instead, the Relay Proxy forwards the synchronization requests of the managed computers to the BLS.

The clients always notify »their own« Relay Proxy. The Relay Proxy synchronizes against the BLS and selects one of the BLS at random. The advantage is that there is only one secure network connection required between the Relay Proxy and the BLS.

Using Relay Proxies does not affect the performance. In case an increase of performance is desired, HEAT Software recommends using additional BLSs instead (see Multiple BLS).

Installation

The Relay Proxy can only be installed on Management Points that do not reside on the ORG level of the infrastructure tree.
If necessary, you can set up multiple Relay Proxies per site. This is mainly useful for reasons of reliability, but has no impact on the performance.
